Hi everyone! Grab a drink and settle in, because we have a nice story to share with you today. We at Eurobottle are proud of building sustainable products, but we know that is only part of the job. The other part is finding creative ways to share our green mission with the world and building great relationships along the way. Good business is built on good relationships, after all, and we always try to make sure our work is not just professional, but genuinely enjoyable. 

On September 20, our friends at Eco Boats Amsterdam are hosting Canal Clean Up Day 2026, an incredible initiative dedicated to removing waste from the city waterways. We are absolutely thrilled to join forces and donate our reusable sports bottles to partners and creators on the water. 

What Makes Our Bottles Special? 

Now, let us talk about those bottles and what makes them special. We proudly manufacture them using biobased plastic. What does that mean exactly? It means the material is derived from a renewable resource, specifically sugarcane, rather than fossil fuels. You will often see this referred to as I’m green™ bio-based Polyethylene on our products. Furthermore, we produce these locally in our own factory right here in Dronten, which allows us to keep a tight grip on our footprint and ensure our quality is always top tier. We utilize a circular production strategy locally where any faulty items from a production batch are immediately shredded and reused as raw material for the next cycle. Built for long term use, these bottles are recyclable in regular waste streams because we exclusively use polyethylene and avoid silicone seals entirely. This means they actively and effectively replace single use plastics in our daily lives. 

The Mission Behind Plastic Fishing 

To give you a behind the scenes look at the upcoming event, we caught up with the amazing Eco Boats Amsterdam team to chat about their mission. Since their fleet is electric, sustainability is already part of their daily operations. They told us that they spend every day on the canals, seeing both the beauty of Amsterdam and the waste that sometimes ends up in the water, and they started a unique experience because of this. As they explained to us, “The idea behind Plastic Fishing came from a simple thought: if we are already taking people onto the canals, why not give them the chance to leave the city a little cleaner than they found it?” We think this is a brilliant way to help the city, and we are very glad to be part of this initiative. 

Creating a Lasting Mindset Shift 

While many organizations and residents care for the canals, the Eco Boats Amsterdam team mentioned that the biggest change they have seen is in public awareness. They pointed out that it is not just about the volume of plastic they scoop up. “For us, the difference is not only in the amount of waste collected. It is also in the mindset it creates,” they explained. “When people spend time on the water and actively remove plastic from the canals, they become much more aware of how easily waste can end up there, and how simple actions can make a difference.” It is incredible to realize how a fun afternoon on the water can completely change how someone views their daily habits. 

The Power of Local Collaboration 

We believe that when sustainable Dutch brands collaborate, this core message is amplified. The Eco Boats Amsterdam team completely agrees, noting that “Events like Canal Clean Up Day work best when they bring together brands that share the same values.” They mentioned that our Eurobottle reusable bottles are a great example of that. Not only are they practical for the volunteers on the day, but as the Eco Boats Amsterdam team shared, “they also support the bigger message: reducing single use plastic starts with simple, everyday alternatives. By working together, we can show that sustainability does not have to feel complicated.” 

Start Small to Make a Big Impact 

When we asked for their best advice for our readers to reduce plastic pollution, they kept it incredibly simple and actionable. “Start with the items you use every day,” they advised. “A reusable bottle, a reusable bag or saying no to unnecessary single use packaging may seem small, but those habits add up quickly.” They hit the nail on the head when they added, “The easiest sustainable choice is the one you can repeat without thinking about it.” If you always carry a reusable bottle, you avoid a lot of single use plastic without needing to make a big effort every time.
