Water bottle made from sugarcane
The Oasus water bottle is made from biobased plastic. This means the raw material does not come from fossil resources, but from plant-based sources. In this case, we use residual material from sugarcane. This reduces dependence on fossil resources and provides a renewable alternative that aligns with our sustainable vision.
Biobased materials are often confused with recycled plastic, but they are not the same. Recycled plastic is made from reprocessed existing materials, while biobased plastic is derived from renewable plant-based sources. In theory, recycled material would be the most sustainable option. However, for drinking bottles this is not permitted by law. In Europe, recycled plastic cannot be used for products that come into contact with food, with the exception of PET bottles within deposit systems.
Our ambition is to help drive change in this area in the future. Until then, we consciously choose the most sustainable alternative that is permitted: biobased PE made from sugarcane.

UNICEF ‘Plastic Bricks’
With every Oasus water bottle sold, we contribute to the UNICEF Plastic Bricks-project in Ivory Coast. In this country, there is an excess of plastic waste and at the same time a shortage of proper school buildings. UNICEF brings these two challenges together in one solution: building schools using plastic bricks.
For every Oasus water bottle, we donate 1% to UNICEF Plastic Bricks. The collected plastic is given a second life as building material, while children gain access to safe and sustainable schools.
This means the Oasus water bottle not only stands for reduced environmental impact, but also for tangible social impact.

We designed the Oasus with care for both people and the environment. The bottle contains no loose parts, no unnecessary materials, and is produced using green energy in the Netherlands. Printing and assembly take place in collaboration with a social workplace.
